Hovhannavank

The monastery of St. John (Hovhannavank), dating back tothe 4th century, is a gem of Armenian architecture. The monastery is located on the right edge of the imposing Kasakh Gorge, through which the Kasakh River flows, and is surrounded by mighty walls. The monastery is located in the province of Aragatsotn, near the village of Ohanavan.
