Itinerary

Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport. Meet and greet and then transfer to your hotel, afterward some leisure time at your disposal.

Good morning and welcome to Yerevan. Our guide will be waiting for you at the lobby of the hotel. We will explore the landmarks and main points of interest in the city. First destination to be visited is the Matenadaran − place full of valuable manuscripts and books preserved in special storages over many centuries. After you get acquainted with the precious collection of the Matenadaran, we will continue to Yerevan Subway. Almost all the stations are very deep under the ground, thus making the temperature below 25°C even on the hottest days of summer. Next, we will proceed to Abovyan Street, opened in 1863, where the first tram in Yerevan passed once. After a few minutes of walk, we will reach the Republic Square to admire its impressive architecture and enjoy the show of the Singing Fountains in the evening. At the end of the day we will attend a cultural evening and prepare ourselves for the new explorations of the next day.

Dear guests, today we will explore Hovhannavank Monastery built in the IV century and located in the province of Aragatsotn. Our second treasure will be the XIII century monastic complex of Saghmosavank with a spectacular view of the Mount Aragats on the background. The tour will continue to the fortress of Amberd located in the same province. This XIII century fortress was built on the slope of the mountain, which offers its visitors to breathe fresh mountain air and admire a perfect view with green background and deep canyon underneath. Now it's time to put on your trainers, as we will hike to Lake Qari, which is situated on the highest Mount of Armenia, Aragats. Cold and crystal water of the lake together with green hillsides and alpine landscapes will mesmerize you. In the evening we will depart to Yerevan to have some rest after a day full of discoveries.

We will begin our adventurous day with discovering Yerevan visiting the main places of interest of the hospitable city. Next, we will have a professional guided tour in the History Museum of Armenia. Rich collections of Armenian ancient artifacts exhibited in the halls of the museum represent the history of Armenia − from prehistoric times to the beginning of the XX century. We will continue our stroll through the city and in the evening we will attend the show of the singing fountains in the Republic Square. Later, you will be transferred to your hotel in Yerevan.

Today, after breakfast, we will head to discover the southern part of the country. First, we will stop at Khor Virap Monastery, standing high in the plain Valley of Ararat. We will be gifted a flawless view of the Mount Ararat on a clear day. Next, we will drive to the wine-making center of the country − Areni. Here, we will have a traditional Armenian lunch and taste delicious local wine. Afterwards, we will drive to Amaghu Gorge, which is always twined with Grand Canyon, where one of the most beautiful monasteries called Noravank is situated. This is a perfect location for taking pictures and admiring the red cliffs. We will have a short coffee break in a unique cave-cafe located in the same area. In the evening, we will head to the village of Herher, for overnight in a hospitable guesthouse.

The day will begin with fresh local breakfast in Herher. Later, we will undertake a beautiful hike to Vayots Sar (2581 meters above sea level) and descend into its deep crater, where a chapel was built. The surface of the extinct volcano looks like a windy desert. The plain downside part of the mountain is used as a pasture; this is why we can come across the animals, while ascending the mountain. After descending the mountain, we will return to our guesthouse in Herher.

In the morning the exploration will continue in Selim, where we will unfold the caravanserai, which used to be a shelter for travelers and their animals. Our next destination will be Armaghan (2840 meters above sea level) volcanic mountain. When we reach the crater of the mountain, we will admire a marvelous lake of volcanic origin and green valleys that embrace the lake. We will continue the tour to the of village Hayravank, on the western shore of Lake Sevan, where we will visit the Hayravank Monastery, built in the IX century, which overlooks gorgeous lake Sevan. In the evening, we will be dropped-off at our hotel in Sevan.

Good morning from Sevan. "The blue pearl of Armenia" is already visible from your hotel. We will enjoy the splendid view over the lake, ringed by mountains. Afterward, we will drive to reveal the province of Kotayk famous for its two ancient and remarkable structures. First, we will discover monastic complex of Geghard listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Partialy cut out of the rock, the complex grants its visitors a marvelous picture of Azat Valley. The trip will continue onwards to Garni, where we will have a chance to see Basalt Organs. Later, we will hike up to the Pagan Temple of Garni and admire the magnificent natural scenery from the top. At the end of the day we will return to Yerevan and you may have some free time to make discoveries at your own pace.
