Itinerary

Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport. Meet and greet and then transfer to your hotel, afterward some leisure time at your disposal.

We will start our beautiful day in the alluring colorful city of Yerevan. Our first destination will be the Armenian History Museum. Through a guided tour you will have the opportunity to learn the history of wine making in Armenia while admiring the rich collection of ancient objects exhibited in the halls of the museum representing Armenia from prehistoric times to the beginning of the XX century. Then we will head to the Megerian Carpet Factory where numerous carpets are displayed in the factory museum, that represent a long history of Armenian rug-making art. We will enjoy traditional lunch consisting of delicious varieties of Armenian cuisine and good local wine in a traditional ambiance. After lunch, we will set out to explore the Noy Wine and Brandy Factory in Yerevan, where old bottles and barrels are kept in special storage areas. The Cafesjian Art Center will be our next discovery. This center aims to present contemporary Armenian and international art. It offers a wide variety of exhibitions including more than 5.000 unique works of modern art. In the evening you will be invited to InVino. An ideal place for lovers of good wine. In a warm atmosphere you will taste unique wines of the bar. We will finish our day with a return to our hotel in Yerevan.

On this new day, the province of Vayots Dzor awaits us to reveal the secrets of its land. This region is the vinicultural center of Armenia. First, we will stop at Khor Virap Monastery, located on a hillside outcrop, which rises above the plain of Ararat. This is the best viewing platform to admire the magnificent Mount Ararat on a clear day. The next destination will be the Areni Cave, also known as the Cave of the Bird, which is located in the village Areni in the province of Vayots Dzor. Following the excavations, the oldest shoe in the world and the first vineyard were discovered there. Then we will drive to the country's wine center, Areni. There, we will have a traditional Armenian lunch and enjoy local wine in a family vineyard. We will spend the night in a traditional guest house called "Old Bridge".

Today, we will continue our journey to the caravanserai of Selim located in the picturesque valley of Selim which served as shelter for travelers and their animals. The road will continue to the old Noratus cemetery where all the territory is covered with numerous "khachkars". Afterwards, we will head to the Sevan Peninsula to reveal another ancient and valuable structure, the Sevanavank Monastery. Thanks to its good location, we will have a fantastic view of the "Blue Pearl" and the surrounding areas. In the evening, we will leave for Dilijan to rest in a hotel.

Early in the morning we will go to BuduArt, which will allow us to unveil our creative potential by creating jewels or scarves following the ancestral techniques around a good glass of wine. Then we will go to Ijevan, where Ijevan's wine and cognac factory will be our main destination. During a guided tour we will learn the history of the factory and the whole process of wine and cognac production. We will visit the wine cellars, and brandy aging workshops. A degustation of wines and cognacs will be organized at the end of the visit. After our guided tour we will return to Yerevan where we will spend a nice evening at Wine Time – a wine bar which is an excellent place for a good end of the day.

At the beginning of this day, we will take the direction of "Terracotta Ceramics Studio". Through a master class of pottery we will prepare small pieces of art and other souvenirs. Later, we will head to the Ararat Brandy factory where we will make an interesting tour through the history of the winemaking process in Armenia. It is an essential stop for all travelers who appreciate the unique and exclusive taste of world-famous Armenian brandy. Our next destination will be the Voskevaz wine factory where we will discover the secrets of Armenian wine production. At the Armas wine factory we will taste Armenian wines on the balcony from where we will have an incomparable view of Mount Ararat. The traditional Ashtarakats restaurant will amaze us with its wide variety of exquisite Armenian dishes. Late at night we will return to Yerevan.

Not far from the capital we will visit the Maran wine factory. In the underground tasting rooms we will taste good-quality wines. We will continue our tour and will explore the ruins of the Zvartnots Cathedral and the Church of St. Hripsime with its unique architectural style and the spectacular view of Mount Ararat in the background. Later, we will head to the holy city of Etchmiadzin, considered the spiritual center of all Armenians. We will visit the Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the oldest Christian church in the world which still functions, with many religious murals. Machanents House will be our next stop. There we will be the witness of preparation and maturation of the wine. At the museum of social life we will learn the daily life of Armenians during history. We will also have the opportunity to participate in the process of preparing traditional Armenian bread, "lavash", as there is no wine without bread, isn’t it? In the evening we will return to Yerevan.
