Mountain Bike Tour in Armenia

In the morning, our vehicle will pick you up from your hotel in Yerevan in order to take you to the south, which is the first starting trail of our mountain bike tour. On the way, we will stop at the Monastery of Khor Virap, which is considered the symbol of the early era of Armenian Christianity. From here, we will be gratified with a majestic view of the Biblical Mount Ararat. The starting point of our first biking experience in Armenia will be the village of Zangakatun, located at the gateway of the Vayots Dzor province. We will gradually descend to the Areni village, followed by Arpa Valley, where we will unveil the immense red cliffs overlooking the wine village. After passing the Arpa Valley, we will stop at Areni cave, where many artifacts testify to the region's millennia-old wine history. Here, the oldest shoe of the world was revealed as well. After this stop, we will continue the cycling to reach the Noravank Monastery through a narrow rocky canyon. The medieval monastery and its architectural splendor will create the image of the Armenian nobility from the golden age. After the visit, we will move through the Arpa Valley and later reach the village of Herher, which is situated in the south.

The second day, you will be taken to the Noratus cemetery, with a stop at the Selim pass, which is preceded by the Lake Sevan. We will start our second biking experience on a mountain bike from Noratus’ Khachkars ("stone-cross") cemetery to the northern town Dilijan. Cycling will continue along the shore of Lake Sevan with a stop at the Sevan Peninsula, where you can admire the Monastery of Sevanavank, which offers a panoramic view of the lake from its height. We will leave Sevan, in order to visit the town of Dilijan, with its dramatically different forested landscapes. We will rest in the spa town of Dilijan.

Early next morning, we will unfold the Goshavank Monastery. Later, we will continue to Haghpat Monastery, from where we will take the third biking trail, leading to the Monastery of Odzun, which passes through the Monastic Complex of Sanahin. On the way, many architectural treasures, such as the ancient fortress Kayanaberd or the church of Saint-Karapet, will catch the eye. Our final destination will be Odzun Monastery, located on a high plateau, on the other side of the Debed valley.

The final day announces our last mountain bike experience. We will depart from the Odzun Monastery and move towards Stepanavan. This adventure will combine diverse landscapes, vast plateaus and green meadows. We may come across many herds of cows or horses galloping in freedom. Here, canyons that cross through huge plateaus, seem to be created by divine hand. We will make our first stop at the fortress of Lori, located at the crossroads of two canyons, which used to be a strategic location for the Armenian Kingdom of Bagratuni. Later, we will continue our route to reach the town of Stepanavan. Next, we will arrive in Vanadzor, which will be the final stage of our 4-day circuit. After we reach Vanadzor, our vehicle will take care of our transfer back to Yerevan.
