Description

Amazing discovery tour to the monastery of Geghard and the temple of Garni. These are considered to be well known religious monuments of Armenia. They are located close to each other and both of them are worth a visit. This 4-5 hour amazing short tour presents two diverse architectural monuments of Pagan and Christian Armenia. The first destination will be the Monastery of Geghard. It is a marvelous monastery complex surrounded by cliffs and mountains of Azat Valley. Being partially in caves, it is in full harmonization with nature. This unique example of the Armenian medieval architecture is inscribed on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The next is Garni, the only pagan temple in Armenia, which survived after adopting Christianity. It is located not far from Geghard monastery. This is the only standing Greco-Roman colonnaded building in Armenia from the first century A.D., as a temple dedicated to the God of Sun, Mihr. This astonishing monument symbolizes pre-Christian Armenia and represents a world value. These two wonderful monuments are attractive for both locals and foreigners. After the exploration of these fascinating sights you will return back to the capital Yerevan.
