Horseback Riding in Armenia
Description

Be the witness of an incredible adventure in canyons and plateau of Lori on horseback. The unfolded vistas from the Dzoraget Canyon, pristine forests, exuberant vegetation of Lori will leave an everlasting impression on you. Marvel into the enchanting nature and reveal ageless structures, preserved over many centuries.

At the beginning of the day, your guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel in Yerevan to head to the northern region of Lori, a generous and lush-forested province. The region was an important fief of the Armenian nobility and inspired artists to create many works of Armenian art and literature. In the afternoon, you will reach a small hamlet near Odzun where our horses and the guide will be waiting for you. Our guide will also be the instructor and will supervise you during the riding.

The horse riding experience will start through the Lori Canyon, where you will pass along the Dzoraget River and its canyon of divine beauty. In this magical environment and natural surroundings, you will have a break to enjoy a tasty meal. After the picnic, you will uncover the Hnevanq Monastery, situated on the opposite bank of the river. The construction of the monastery was financed in the 7th century by the representatives of the glorious princely Mamikonian family, the former leaders of the Armenian military forces. The monastery was semi-destroyed and lost its dome before the Armenian Government has completely restored it.

Subsequently, you will stop at the ancient "brother and sister" fortress dating back to the 10th century, located on two opposite hills, which guide the passages through the canyon on each bank of the Dzoraget River. According to the legend, a brother and a sister from noble ancestry built a small fortress on each bank of the river to measure their power and to practice the art of handling weapons. Afterwards, you will ride towards the starting point, where our comfortable vehicle will be waiting for you to give you a safe transfer back to the hotel in the capital - Yerevan.
