Armenia: Climb Mt. Armaghan on Horseback
Description
The driver-guide will greet you at the reception of your hotel in Yerevan to start your trip. Hop in your private vehicle and set off to the quaint village of Nshkhark, where the day's activities will take place.
Upon arrival, you will receive a short orientation from your guides and instructors. They will make sure that you are totally comfortable and safe being on your horse before taking off on tour.
Following the instructions, you will start your ascent of Mount Armaghan (2829 meters) accompanied by the equestrian guide. The top of this mountain is an extinct volcano, with a spectacular lake in its crater and an ancient chapel nearby. Your driver will wait for you in the village while you start your ascension to Mount Armaghan, it may take roughly 9-hours, including the break time.
After Nshkhark Village, you will cross the Argichi River, from here, stunning views of the old bridge will await you. During your climbing tour through the mountains, you will get to explore some magnificent Alpine landscapes, and if you are lucky, you will have the chance to meet the local shepherds with their livestock. On the top of the mountain, you will enjoy an open-air picnic, and get the chance to capture some unique photos of the region. From this point, you have the chance to witness fabulous panoramic views of Lake Sevan and the Geghama Mountains. After finishing your break, you will ride your horse and descend back to the village of Verin Getashen while passing through Madina Village, where picturesque rural scenes await you. Your driver will greet you at Verin Getashen to give you a smooth return to the Armenian capital - Yerevan.
