Khustup, Sacred Mountain
Description
Climb a significant monument of Armenian history, a symbolic mountain in the southern regions of Armenia, Mount Khustup (3206m above sea level). Lush forests, emerald meadows and rocky peaks, dominate the Syunik region. Your guide will be waiting for you at your accomodation at the beginning of the new day to take you to the town of Kapan, located in the South of Armenia. On the way, you will have the opportunity to stop and explore the Monasteries of Khor Virap, Noravank or Tatev (cable car at your expense) and the megalithic complex of Karahunj. The journey from Yerevan to Kapan takes about six hours. When you set your foot in Kapan, you will be settled in a hotel to rest before starting the day full of adventures. You can also stroll through the streets of Kapan or taste the delicious specialties of the region. The next day, the comfortable Jeep will drop you off at the starting point of your ascent, located about 2000 meters above sea level. The climb will last about 6 to 7 hours depending on your promptitude (breaks included). The landscapes will change in front of your eyes: from the luxuriant forests to the verdant meadows, then you will reveal the imposing rocky summit of Mount Khustup, from which you will have a celestial view over the whole region. The variety of the surrounding nature, fauna and flora, will give you a sense of intense freedom. Afterward, you will take the same path to descend, and your jeep will wait for you at the slope of the mount, which will drive you to the vehicle that will take care of your comfortable transfer to Yerevan.
