The lake has an area of 1272 km² and lies at 1900m above sea level, with a maximum depth of 79.7m. Lake Sevan is located in Gegharkunik Region of eastern Armenia. It is surrounded by the mountains Sevana, Vardenis, and Geghama. There are five species of fish in the lake, three of which are endemic. The surroundings of Lake Sevan are rich in history, with elaborate burial sites dating back to the Bronze Age. In 1906, a Bronze Age cemetery was dug in Zovak. Not far from the hotel, there is the beautiful Sevana Peninsula with Sevanavank Monastery. The monastery was founded in the 9th century on the northwestern shore of the lake. Under the USSR, the island became a peninsula due to a decrease in the water level caused by agricultural irrigation projects. The monastery consists of three churches, two of which exist to this day (St. Arakelots and St. Astvatsatsin). The small church was founded in 874 by Princess Mariam. Around these monastic buildings, there is a library, a school, residential buildings (none of which survived until today). The monastery was a place of pilgrimage and existed until 1930 when the last monks had to leave the place during the Stalinist period. Today, the complex is maintained by the Armenian Apostolic Church, which runs a seminary on the northern tip of the peninsula. On the south bank of the present peninsula, the guesthouse of the Armenian Authors' Association is located, and on the east bank is the summer residence of the Armenian president. Thanks to good road and rail connections to the capital Yerevan, Sevan's tourism industry is well developed. The picturesque monastery of Sevanavank is also a very visited place. Not far from the hotel, to the north-west of Lake Sevan is the city with the same name. The city was founded in 1842 by Russian exiles and owes its name to Princess Helena, daughter of Tsar Paul 1 Yelenovka. Only in 1935 the colony received its current name.
The hotel is located at the crossroads of tourist destinations and is ready to make your holidays unforgettable. This allows each visitor to see the pearl of Armenia and fully relax.
