Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport. Meet and greet and then transfer to your hotel, afterward some leisure time at your disposal.
In the morning admiring key attractions of Yerevan, we will head to the Geghard Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the part of which is cut into the rock. Its location offers the visitors a magnificent view of the Azat Valley. The tour will continue to the impressive site of Garni with its pagan temple from the 1st century, from where the marvellous landscapes will be unfolded.
Our next adventure is canyoning in Khosrov forest and jeep tour during which you can experience an unforgettable off-road journey.
We will hike to Aragats (4090 m), the highest mountain in Armenia. On the way, we will see the ruins of the old Amberd fortress, and the final point of the route is the beautiful high-altitude lake Kari (3207 m) with crystal clear water and alpine meadows. After that, we will camp in Ohanavan.
We will leave the admirable Ohanavan after breakfast to start the climbing experience, which is easily handled even by beginners. It takes one and a half hour from Ohanavan town to Saghmosavank monastery which are situated in the villages of the same names in the Ashtarak area. Also, we will hike to Ohanavan where we can explore the old complex of Saghmosavank Monastery dug into the rock. We will move up the canyon to reach the orchards of the village Saghmosavank to unveil the Monastery of Saghmosavank. It overlooks the canyon of Kasakh like her sister Monastery Hovhannavank. Later the vehicle will take care of our transportation to Yerevan.
Today in the morning, we will drive to the southern part of the country. The first stop will be at Khor Virap Monastery, standing high in the plain valley of Ararat. We will be gifted a flawless view of the Mount Ararat on a clear day. Our next location is Dzhokhki Dzor (Hell’s Canyon) beautiful gorge, center of the Armenian extreme entertainment. A jump from a 65-meter cliff with a rope will charge you with energy for the whole day, or even for the entire week. Further, we will go deeper into the gorge along the protected area in which the Snow Leopard lives! The path passes through a narrow canyon along which we will walk knee-deep in the water. Camping overnight in Hell’s Canyon.
We will drive to Amaghu Gorge, which is always twined with Grand Canyon, where Noravank Monastery is, enjoying a fascinating view over the canyon. The red cliffs around the monastery make it a perfect location for taking memorable photos. While there, we will have a coffee break in a cosy cave-café. Afterwards, we will continue to cave-discovery activity in Magil Cave for 2 hours. The cave is 3 km away from the village of Areni. It has a narrow entrance, and the further road is divided into several tunnels. The temperature there is a bit low, that is why for many centuries people used this cave for living. After that we will continue to Areni where you will climb to the giant rock and head to Areni Cave, where a 6000-year old shoe has been found together with wine vessels, which testify that Armenia is an ancient and authentic center of winemaking. In the meantime, you will have the opportunity to take a souvenir picture. At the end of the day have a wine tasting experience in the famous Areni village, where winemaking was born. Overnight in Areni.
The new day will start with a delicious breakfast. Afterwards we will visit the Old Khndzoresk Village. This will be a real gift for nature lovers since Khndzoresk is famous for its ancient cave dwellings. From ancient times people lived in these rocky hills, constructing storages for food. Later on, we will continue to the Monastery of Tatev. It is one of the oldest and most famous monastery complexes in Armenia. The combination of architectural marvel, together with divine nature around it, make Tatev one of the most visited and photographed places in Armenia. While there, we will take the longest reversible ropeway of the world. We will return to our hotel in Goris. After that, right under the Devil’s Bridge we will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful gorge of the Vorotan River. This place is rich in mineral springs which we will explore by canyoning. We’ll go down and walk in the water (using the Alpine technique of Dulfer) to swim, jump and glide. This adventure will allow us to get as close as possible with the nature of Armenia and admire its beauty.
Today, we will leave Goris and continue our tour to the caravanserai of Selim, located in the picturesque valley of Selim, which used to be a shelter for travelers and their animals. Later, we will head to Noratus, which is an ancient cemetery covered with khachkars. Afterwards, we will head to Sevan peninsula. Here you will experience the paragliding activity over the turquoise lake Sevan. 10-20 minute of tandem paragliding (a flight with a professional paraglider) over the magnificent Armenian mountains or the azure waters of Lake Sevan will be one of the highlights of the trip. At the end of the day, overnight in Sevan.
Today we will leave Sevan and head to Debed river in Lori defying nature in a new way. There is nothing better than rafting in Debed River with fantastic and professional Armenian rafters. Enjoy the experience. Later the hike will start passing by the monuments of antiquity such as Haghpat, Sanahin monastery complex, Kobayr and Akhtal. After the great experience continue to Armenian Switzerland Dilijan where we will relax and have a city tour getting acquainted with the main attractions of the city. Overnight in Dilijan.
This day will be in the national park of Dilijan where you will admire Parz and Gosh Lakes in the magnificent forest. Will discover the beautiful monastery Goshavank which is home to Mkhitar Gosh, father of Armenian law. The monastery is located in the same name village of Gosh. In the evening you will be dropped-off at your hotel in Yerevan.
