Itinerary

Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport. Transfer by a Soviet car to the hotel and free time at your disposal.

After our breakfast, we will start our day with the discovery of the capital of Yerevan. We will visit the Sports and Concert Complex on behalf of Karen Demirtchyan designed by the famous Soviet architect Arthur Tharkhanyan and considered to be the largest complex in Yerevan. Our next stop is the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, another masterpiece by architect Arthur Tharkhanyan, which houses the Armenian Genocide Museum and Memorial. Then, we discover the Victory Park, dedicated to the Armenian soldiers who participated in the Second World War. Then we will visit the Cascade complex. After which we will walk to the Grand Candy Ponchikanots and taste delicious ponchiks (small cakes). Later, we will head to the Opera and Ballet Building and visit a Soviet cafe called Kazirok. We will continue our beautiful walk to Place de la République and Place de Stépan Shahumyan. Then we discover the old cinema called Rossia and the Goum Market where you can buy delicious Armenian fruits, dried fruits, spices and various Soviet utensils and objects. At the end of the day, we will take the underground metro and arrive at Sasuntsi David Station to admire the beautiful Soviet-era station.

Today, we are heading towards the Aragatsotn region to visit the Byurakan astrophysical observatory. Founded in 1946 by the Soviet and Armenian astronomer and astrophysicist Viktor Hambartsumian. The observatory is considered one of the main astronomical centers of the USSR where new types of star associations were discovered in 1947, more than 1,000 eruptive stars, dozens of supernovas, hundreds of Herbig-Haro objects. Afterwards, our journey will continue to the Alley of the Armenian Alphabet. The monument was built in 2005 on the occasion of the 1600th anniversary of the creation of the Armenian alphabet. In the evening, we will arrive at the city of Alaverdi, located in one of the beautiful regions of Armenia. Rest and overnight at the hotel.

In the morning, having had breakfast, we will head to the Mikoyan brothers' museum, where archival documents, small models of different models of MIG aircraft, etc. are reserved. In the museum courtyard, you will see the MIG plane (without motor) and the official car of Artem Mikoyan. Then we will continue our journey to the Alaverdi Copper and Molybdenum Combination, created in 1957. Return to the hotel. Rest.

Today we are leaving for the second largest city in Armenia, Gyumri located in the Chirak region. It is the cultural capital of Armenia, a city of humor, art and hospitality. We will begin our exploration of the Old Town by discovering its ancient architectural style, its wooden balconies and its colorful facades. During our walking tour, we discover Vardanants Square, the ancient city Kumayri, the ancient hairdressing salon of Gumri, the Gorki Park (If you are lucky, you will eat chaquar-aklore or bambak (Soviet candy or drink kvass). In the evening, we will take the old train and return to Yerevan.

We will start our day with a visit to the Sardarapat Memorial with its Museum of Ethnology, located in the Armavir region. Our trip to Yerevan will be incomplete without visiting the flea market called "Vernissage", the place where find all possible types of traditional souvenirs. Afterwards, we will continue our discoveries and go through "the time tunnel" and in 10 minutes, we will appear in a site called "Yerevan Children's Railway", known in Armenian as Mankakan Erkatughi. It is a Soviet amusement park, located in the canyon of the Hrazdan river. Here too, we will explore the old station, structures built by the Soviet style, pure nature while hearing and admiring the flowing river. During the summer, the elderly are spending their day fishing and the children are swimming away from the daily routine. We will conclude our last day with a visit to the Ararat Brandy factory where we will taste the famous Armenian cognac. In the evening, return to your hotel. Preparations for your departure.
