Vayk Hotel

Hotel Vayk is located on the Yerevan-Meghri main road and has been welcoming guests since 2010. It was opened as part of a regional tourist centre. It is a modern three-storey building, the first of which houses a tourist information centre and a restaurant which also serves as a venue for various public events such as meetings, conferences, and forums. Entertainment events and movie screenings are also organized for tourists.

On the third floor of the hotel, there are 10 rooms with comfortable and pleasant furnishings, hot and cold water 24 hours a day, satellite TV. The hotel also has a parking lot. The hotel is located in Vayots Dzor Region. The population is not very large. The region is particularly mountainous, with few residential areas. The monasteries and historic churches, the thermal springs of Jermuk make this region a famous tourist destination. The provincial capital is Yeghegnadzor.

Noravank ("New Monastery") is located 28 km from the hotel, a 13th-century Armenian monastery and a popular tourist destination in Armenia. The monastery was built by the Orbelian family, the princes of Syunik, and it is specially dedicated to the holy Baptist. One of the peculiarities of the monastery is the facade of the mausoleum of the church (Surb Astvatsatsin). The monastery is one of the most important tourist attractions of Armenia and has been submitted for the inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996.

Not far from Yeghegnadzor, one may reveal Areni, a renowned wine village. Areni produces dry red wine that is not only famous in Armenia. For tourists, the annual wine festival is very interesting and makes the trip to Armenia impressive.

Not far from the hotel, the medieval university of Gladzor attracts cultural tourists. The university is located in the village of Vernashen. The contemporaries called Gladzor the capital of wisdom because it was one of the few and the first places in Armenia where one could study various fields of science. Many famous Armenian scientists and historians have studied and taught there.

Recently, a real archaeological site has been excavated 15 km from the hotel. A Jewish cemetery with Hebrew inscriptions of the 13th and 14th centuries and the remains of a medieval Jewish settlement were discovered there. If such discoveries arouse your curiosity, you are in the right place.
