The museum is located on Republic Square. You can easily reach it by transport. Republic Square is called Hanrapetutyan Hraparak. The architect is Alexander Tamanyan, the author of the master plan of the Armenian capital, Yerevan. In this street, you can also reveal the state buildings. To the northwest of the square, there are also the best hotels in the city. To the south of the square, there is a large post office. Several government houses can be seen in the eastern and western parts of the square.

In front of the museum are fountains known as singing fountains. This place is very attractive especially at night, when many travellers and locals spend their free time there. Statues of the great Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan and of the composer Alexander Spendaryan, after whom National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet is named, are located on Freedom Square. In front of the Opera House, one may find France Square and the statue of Aram Khachaturyan. This building has a very beautiful architecture. The Opera is certainly an important tourist destination in Yerevan and a favourite meeting place for Armenians.
