Haghartsin is a splendid pearl among other monasteries of the region. The monastery is located in a hidden tributary, surrounded by lush beech woods.

The monastery complex consists of three churches, two gavits (porches), one of which was destroyed, a refectory, a few chapels and khachkars (cross-stones). The main church of Saint Atsvatsatsin, the Holy Mother Church is a double-vaulted building with a dome raised on a tholobate (with its walls in the shape of cylinder). The southern entrance is adorned with ornamental friezes.

The oldest building of the monastery complex is the church of Saint Grigor (11th C.) with a dome raised on an octagonal tholobate. It is followed by a church with a second rectangular entrance. The small church of St. Stephanos (1244) is attractively decorated.
