Study Trip

Day 1 Yerevan
Arrival at Zvartnots international airport. Welcome and transfer to the hotel. Leisure time and settle in.

Day 2 Yerevan: Matenadaran - Tsitsernakaberd- City tour - Cultural Evening
Yerevan, the colorful capital of Armenia, welcomes you and invites you for an interesting stroll. First we will explore the Matenadaran Museum which hosts one of the world's most valuable and largest collections of centuries-old manuscripts. Next we explore the subway (Metro Yerevan), the Abovyan Street, one of the oldest streets of Yerevan, the "Singing Fountains". They are worth seeing, especially on summer evenings, when the fountains are colorfully illuminated, and waltzes by Johann Strauss or chansons by Charles Anzavour are played over loudspeakers. Afterwrads, we will have a nice cultural evening. After a traditional lunch, we explore Tsitsernakaberd, the Armenian Genocide Museum and Memorial. After resting, we invite you to take another walk through the city.

Day 3 Yerevan – Hovhannavank – Saghmosavank – Amberd - Qari Lich - Yerevan
Today we are heading to the Aragatsotn province. First, we will visit the Hovhannavank Monastery of St. John the Baptist dating from the 4th century. The monastery stands on the edge of the Kasagh River canyon. Only 5km north from Hovhanavank is the Monastery Saghmosavank, dating back to the 13th century. In the afternoon, we will visit the partially destroyed fortress of Amberd (2300 m above sea level) dating back to the 11th century. We will have the opportunity to admire the beauty of the alpine landscapes, with their beautiful variety of colors and natural resources, and to breathe the fresh mountain air. Afterwards we explore Qari Lich “Stone Lake’’, a magnificent high mountain lake located on the top of Aragats. It is a popular destination for climbers. Return to Yerevan. Leisure time.

Day 4 Yerevan: History Museum - City Tour
At the beginning of the day we will visit the monastery of Khor Virap dating back to the 4th century. You will receive rich information about the holy Mount Ararat, an extinct volcano since 4 million years, located across the border. Next, in Zangakatun, we visit the house-museum of the most eminent Armenian writer, Paruyr Sevak.
Armenia has an ancient winemaking tradition. In Areni, we have the opportunity to taste Armenian wine and enjoy a traditional lunch at a family vineyard.The trip continues to the monastery of Noravank. Coffee break in a cave café. Arrival in Herher. Dinner and overnight stay with a host family.

Day 5 Yerevan - Khor Virap – Zangakatun – Areni – Noravank - Herher
The picturesque South of Armenia awaits us with its fertile valleys and magnificent landscapes. We explore Khor Virap Monastery, a famous pilgrimage dating back to the 4th century AD. Next, in Zangakatun, we visit the house-museum of the most eminent Armenian writer, Paruyr Sevak. Armenia has an ancient winemaking tradition. You will have the opportunity to taste Armenian wine and have a traditional lunch at a family vineyard in Areni, in the “Armenian Bordeaux’’. To the South of Areni, in the Amaghu Gorge, we will admire the beauty of Noravank, one of the most beautiful monasteries in Armenia. After enjoying coffee break in a cave café, we head to the village of Herher. Overnight with a host family.

Day 6 Herher - Vayots Sar - Herher
We undertake a beautiful hike to Vayots Sar (2581 m) and descend into its deep crater, where a chapel was built. We will have a picnic at this beautiful spot. Return to Herher. Leisure time.

Day 7 Herher - Selim Caravanserai - Armaghan - Hayravank - Sevan
Exploratory trip to the caravanserai of Selim. Selim Pass offers you picturesque views into the valley below. Our next destination is Armaghan (2840 m), a volcanic mountain. Despite the height of the volcano, one can climb the mountain without much difficulty. We explore the crater and admire a beautiful lake. From the summit, we have a wonderful view of the spectacular scenery of the Geghama Mountains. Close to the village of Hayrawank, on the western shore of Lake Sevan, we visit Hayravank Monastery from the 9th century. Arrival in Sevan. Leisure time.

Day 8 Sevan – Sevanavank – Geghard - Basalt Organs – Garni - Yerevan
The crystal-clear Lake Sevan, "the blue pearl of Armenia" is already right before our eyes! We will visit the Church of Sevanavank with its five holy cross-stones located at the top of the peninsula.
The trip continues onwards to the Monastery of Geghard, which dates back to the 13th century and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, we will hike to the imposing basalt organs along the river Azat. Finally, we will explore the pagan temple of Garni from the 1st century AD. Return to the capital. Free time for individual discoveries.

Day 9 Yerevan – Zvartnots - Etchmiadzin – Aknashen – Yerevan
Exploration trip to Etchmiadzin, the most important religious center of Armenia. On the way we will visit the ruins of the circular Cathedral of Zvartnots and St. Hripsime Church. Both date back to the 7th century. Later on, we will pay a visit to the Cathedral of Etchmiadzin. The trip continues to the village of Aknashen. Exciting encounters and warm hospitality will invite you to the Armenian table, interesting conversations, laughter and joy. You will get the unique opportunity to take part in the preparation of ″Lavash″, traditional Armenian flat bread and taste Armenian specialties in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Full of splendid impressions we drive back to Yerevan. Leisure time.

Day 10 Return flight 
Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
