Gndevank Monastery is situated in a miraculous environment, along the banks of the Arpa River.

The road leading to Gndevank passes through a valley full of huge basalt organs. A number of magnificent basalt organs extend several kilometers along the cliff which overlooks the Arpa River.
St. Stepanos Church, the most important and outstanding building dating back to the year 936, is an example of an Armenian cruciform church with a central dome.
