Sanahin Bridge

In the middle of Alaverdi, a single stone bridge crosses the Debed River. For eight centuries, this bridge has tamed the raging river and for a long time it served as the only connection into the village.

Queen Vanane built this bridge in 1192 in memory of her husband, King Abas of Lori.

This 19m long bridge was several times restored, but this technical masterpiece was in no way diminished. On one of the corners of the bridge railing, a lion lies sunbathing.
